April 2012 - Surrounded by a Great Cloud of Witnesses

Oh how encouraged we are to be surrounded by so many retired missionaries who have ran with endurance on the field.  They are witnesses who bare testimony to God’s sustaining power all over the globe.  They are witnesses to the peace that comes when one obeys the Lord, even in the face of great difficulties.  They testify to us that God’s Word is power and we have heard story after story about how the Gospel has compelled tribes of people to renounce their false God’s and bow to Jesus Christ.  The Lord continues to use others here at GIAL to educate us, encourage us, and grow our excitement for the mission field.

A couple weeks ago, there was a “Cameroon night” hosted at a retired missionary’s house where missionaries at all different stages in the process gathered.  It was so encouraging to see the missionaries who completed their translation work and to hear stories of how the Lord used his Word to bring many to Christ.  The task ahead of us seems insurmountable, but if the Lord sustained these missionaries than he can sustain us!  There is nothing impossible with God! We walked away tremendously encouraged (read more here)...

Feb 2012 - The Wonderful World of Linguistics

What a privilege and a joy it has been to study linguistics at GIAL here in Dallas. We have walked not only into the exciting world of linguistics, but have also entered a world flooded with missionary wisdom. All of Dave’s professors are return missionaries and some are about to head back to the field. We live in a neighborhood right across the street from our school that is mostly composed of retired or aspiring missionaries. One of Dave’s professors took him out to lunch to talk to him about parenting our children overseas. We had a couple over who spent 32 years in Cameroon translating New Testament...(click here to read more).

November 2011 - Miracles Do Happen!

In our last newsletter we shared that we needed to raise $55,000 and $1,787/mo by December and we asked you to join us in asking God to provide. We are overjoyed to announce that the Lord has answered your prayers because World Team determined that we raised enough of our budget to be released to Texas! All of the $55K has been raised we are only lacking $423/mo. World Team has released us for training with confidence that the rest of the needed support will come in. Here are a couple ways that the Lord has provided...(click here to read more)

September 2011 - Praying for a Small Miracle

Praying for a Small Miracle: $55k by December
Jeremiah 32:27 says, "Behold I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?" It is verses like these that keep us praying and keep us working hard to raise all the support we need by December of this year. We were very pleased to have received the finalized version of our start-up fee budget just a couple days ago. However, our jaws dropped when we saw that we need to raise ~$113k in addition to the monthly support that we have already been in the process of raising. Fortunately, thanks to those of you who have already started giving monthly, we should only be lacking $55k of the $113k by December....(Click HERE to read more)

June 2011 - Support Raising, Tornadoes and Death

Support Raising, Tornadoes, and Death

Last month, the Hare family piled into our van and drove for 20 hours to Colorado…On our way home we stopped by Pierce City, Missouri to visit with friends and speak at their church. However, when we arrived at the church to give our presentation, we were told by a fireman to take cover because a tornado was coming our way. So we spent the rest of the evening huddled under a staircase, and then later on went to a storm shelter. The next morning we heard that a tornado had wiped out the city of Joplin and taken the lives of over 100 people. This city was only 25 miles from where we were staying and in the words of my dad, “We were only 25 miles from Heaven.” We were very sobered to be this close to death. We praise the Lord for preserving our lives…(Click Here to Read More)
